Massad Boulos, US Presidential Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, affirmed on Wednesday the United States' commitment to ending the conflict in Sudan. Boulos indicated that President Donald Trump's administration is working with its partners to facilitate a humanitarian truce, paving the way for the Sudanese people to return to civilian rule in a unified Sudan.

Trump's Announcement and Resolve to Solve the Crisis
Boulos's remarks followed President Trump's declaration of his intent to work towards resolving the devastating war in Sudan, which has been ongoing since April 2023.
Pledge to Solve: Speaking to reporters after meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Trump said: "We will start working on Sudan... I didn't think it was difficult. I'm very good at resolving conflicts."
Stopping the War: Trump wrote on "Truth Social" that he would use "the influence of the presidency to stop the war immediately."
Conflict Background and International Efforts
The war between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted in April 2023, leaving tens of thousands dead and causing the displacement of nearly 12 million people.
Quad Efforts: The US is involved in efforts to resolve the crisis through the Quad Group, which also includes Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt.
Quad Plan: The Quad proposed a plan in September for a ceasefire and a three-month truce followed by a political process. The RSF accepted the plan, but the Army still rejects it.
US Warning: Last week, the US warned that Sudan could turn into a "hotbed for terrorist activity" amid the ongoing conflict and lack of a solution, expressing concern over the dramatic humanitarian situation.
