Massive Russian Drone and Missile Attack Across Ukraine Kills Five; Energy Infrastructure Targeted

Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Grinchuk stated that a "massive overnight attack" targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure was still ongoing as of Wednesday morning, marking Russia's latest move to cripple the country's power sector ahead of winter. In a statement, the Minister added: "When security conditions allow, workers will begin assessing the impact of the attack and commencing repair work."

Casualties and Damages

  • Kyiv Region: Rescuers recovered the bodies of three people, including two children, after the attack caused a house fire in the village of Boribi, according to regional governor Mykola Kalashnik.

  • Dnipro District (Kyiv): Two other bodies were found. Emergency workers rescued 10 people after debris from a drone strike sparked a fire on the sixth floor of a 16-story residential building.

  • Kyiv: The attack shattered windows at a medical facility, and debris was found on another residential building, as reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko via Telegram.

The large-scale assault also struck other Ukrainian cities, including Zaporizhzhia and the city of Izmail in the southern Odesa region.

Meanwhile, President Trump is expected to hold discussions at the White House today with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
