Following the helicopter crash that claimed the life of the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and several senior officials in May 2024, speculations swirled about possible foreign involvement. However, official investigations conducted at the highest levels in Iran have dispelled these rumors, shedding light on the incident’s details and surrounding circumstances.

Ali Shamkhani, political advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, announced that thorough investigations by the armed forces and specialized committees found no evidence or indication of foreign intervention or conspiracy in Raisi’s helicopter crash. Shamkhani stressed that all technical evidence and on-site inquiries so far point to no unusual activity or external interference during the president’s flight.
Despite increased questioning—especially after the recent 12-day conflict and claims implicating foreign actors such as Israel— Iranian experts and investigators concluded, using advanced technical capabilities, that the accident's cause remains weather-related. Still, Shamkhani acknowledged that there are always possibilities beyond current technical capabilities.
Final reports released on September 1, 2024, confirmed that the primary cause of the crash was "complex meteorological and climatic conditions." A sudden, dense fog led to the helicopter's collision with a mountain in East Azerbaijan province, tragically ending the lives of President Raisi and seven companions.
Through these official statements and continued investigations, it becomes clear that Raisi’s death was not the result of outside plotting or sabotage, but rather due to harsh natural elements that the pilots could not overcome. Relevant authorities continue their efforts to provide updates to the Iranian people and the international community.
