Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that the Israeli military launched a "strike in the heart of Beirut targeting Hezbollah's chief of staff." The strike hit the Haret Hreik neighborhood in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Attack Details and Israeli Statements
The Target and His Role: Netanyahu’s office confirmed that the target was Abu Ali Tabtabaei, the second-in-command of Hezbollah, who "led the reinforcement and armament of the terrorist organization." Tabtabaei is a prominent and enigmatic figure, classified as an international terrorist by the US in 2016, and had previously led the group's forces in Syria and Yemen.
Decision and Determination: The statement noted that Netanyahu ordered the attack based on the recommendation of the Defense Minister and the Chief of Staff, affirming that "Israel confirms its determination to act to achieve its goals anywhere and anytime."
Katz's Warning: Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz stated that Israel will continue to act forcefully to prevent any threat, warning: "Anyone who raises his hand against Israel will have his hand cut off."
No Return: Katz stressed that he and Netanyahu are determined not to allow a "return to the reality that existed before October 7."
