U.S. authorities are continuing their intensive investigation into the murder of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, with a growing focus on the political motives of the suspect, Tyler Robinson (22), and his potential connections to far-left groups in Utah. This development comes after one of these groups deleted its social media accounts immediately following the incident, raising suspicions of an attempt to conceal information or potential ties.

Six sources familiar with the matter told Axios that investigators are exploring the theory that Robinson's anger over Kirk's stance on gender identity issues was the primary driver of the crime. Kirk had been an outspoken opponent of gender-affirming surgeries for minors and the participation of transgender athletes in women's sports. The investigation reveals that Robinson lived with a transgender roommate, who has now become a key witness. This roommate has cooperated with authorities, providing crucial evidence, including emails and phone conversations, which detail a plan to hide the weapon after the crime.
According to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, Robinson sent a message to his roommate asking him to retrieve a rifle he had hidden near Utah Valley University after the shooting. Cox confirmed that the suspect's family told authorities that Tyler had become more politically involved recently and expressed a strong interest in Kirk's planned visit to the campus. Federal and state law enforcement officials are also investigating whether certain left-wing groups in Utah had prior knowledge of Robinson's plans or provided him with any support after the crime, which makes the deletion of one group's social media accounts particularly significant.
The case has ignited fierce political division. Some conservatives have labeled the incident as an act of left-wing extremism, while liberals have countered by highlighting Robinson's conservative background and his family's support for President Donald Trump's MAGA movement. The suspect's mother told the Daily Mail that their family is predominantly Republican and not affiliated with the Democratic Party. Meanwhile, LGBTQ+ activists have criticized media outlets for publishing initial reports, later found to be inaccurate, about the presence of transgender-related inscriptions on the bullet casings.
An investigator stated that Robinson's roommate is a "very important person" in the case and that authorities are counting on his continued full cooperation. "What we want to know is whether there were other people who were aware of this crime, either before or after it happened," the investigator added.
