Israel Hayom reported on Tuesday that Israeli security agencies are treating the likelihood of Iranian intervention in the upcoming election as "almost certain." Tehran reportedly plans to exploit the domestic tension to undermine political stability.

1. Anticipated Iranian Intervention Mechanisms
According to the security report published by Danny Citrinowicz, Iran operates a vast network of fake accounts on social media platforms aimed at:
Spreading misinformation.
Inciting divisions between Jewish and Arab voters.
Tehran relies on experience gained from its intervention in the 2020 US elections, in addition to using AI tools to enhance the credibility of the fake accounts. Special units within the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are supervising these operations.
2. The Three Phases of Expected Iranian Intervention
The newspaper predicts Iran will execute its plan in three main phases:
Phase | Objective |
Pre-Election | Influencing public opinion and disrupting internal consensus. |
Election Day | Causing disruption through fake news and complex cyber activities. |
Post-Election | Questioning the results to undermine the legitimacy of the democratic process. |
3. Israeli Warning
The report concluded that Iran's capacity to harm the elections is "real and growing." It called on Israeli authorities to:
Enhance intelligence efforts.
Increase surveillance of the digital space to prevent external interference.
