The New York Times has issued a stark warning to the Trump administration, highlighting that a military operation against Iran would be far more complex and dangerous than the swift arrest of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela. Experts, including Ali Vaez from the International Crisis Group, told the paper that there is no "low-cost or clean" military option, warning of significant American casualties that could haunt Trump during an election year.

Unlike the exposed Venezuelan skies, Iran boasts one of the Middle East's most diverse missile and drone arsenals, capable of reaching targets up to 1,200 miles away, including U.S. bases and Israeli cities. The report also emphasized Iran's "Axis of Resistance," noting that proxies in Iraq, Yemen, and Lebanon could export instability across multiple fronts. Analysts argue that Iran’s ideological leadership is deeply entrenched, making a "decapitation strike" much harder to achieve than in Caracas.
