Officials: Russian forces attack energy infrastructure in Mykolaiv

Vitaly Kim, the governor of Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region, said on Thursday that Russian forces launched 56 drones and one missile overnight as they attacked energy infrastructure in the southern region.

The attack caused power outages for some consumers, but there were no casualties, Kim said in a statement on Telegram.


The Ukrainian air force also reported five attacks on infrastructure facilities in areas near the front line.


The Ukrainian air force said it shot down 22 drones and lost track of 27 that may have fallen on Ukrainian territory. Two other drones were downed in Belarus.


Authorities in Kyiv and surrounding areas reported no damage to critical infrastructure or casualties as a result of the attack.


According to regional authorities in the northeastern Sumy region, the drone attack caused a fire in an administrative building and damaged two cars.


Zelensky discusses use of long-range weapons with Biden

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on January 24 that he and US President Joe Biden discussed the use of long-range weapons, aid deliveries and the implementation of the “Victory Plan” during a phone call.


“We talked about long-range weapons, about the Ramstein conference in a few weeks. We also talked about how our teams are working on the points of the Victory Plan.”
