Over 200 Dead, One Million Displaced Due to Cyclones "Tino" and "Vongfong"

The Philippines' National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council announced on Sunday that the death toll from Typhoon "Tino," which swept through the Visayas islands, has reached 224. Meanwhile, over one million people have fled their homes due to the new Typhoon "Vongfong."

Catastrophic Impact of Typhoon "Tino"


  • Human Toll: The death toll reached 224, with 109 people missing and 526 injured, mostly in Cebu. Authorities noted that these figures are still being verified.

  • Population Affected: More than 946,000 families—or over 3.3 million people—were affected across 7,269 villages in 8 different regions of the Philippines.


New Typhoon "Vongfong" Intensifies the Crisis


  • Destructive Power: Typhoon "Vongfong" continues to strike the Philippines with destructive force, accompanied by winds reaching 230 kilometers per hour. One woman has died, and over 1.2 million people were evacuated in anticipation of the storm.

  • Civil Disruptions: Schools and government offices were closed in several areas, including the capital Manila, and nearly 300 flights were canceled.

  • Warnings: Warnings were issued for heavy rainfall exceeding 200 mm, signaling the threat of catastrophic flooding.
