Qatar's First Official Comment on the Targeting of Hamas Leaders in Doha

In a swift reaction to recent developments, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement strongly condemning the Israeli attack that targeted Hamas leaders on its soil. The statement read: "The State of Qatar condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli attack that targeted residential headquarters where a number of members of the Hamas political bureau reside in Doha."

This announcement comes after the Israeli army had previously declared that its air force targeted Hamas headquarters in the Qatari capital. The Israeli army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, confirmed in a post on the "X" platform that "The IDF and Shin Bet, through the air force, just now precisely targeted the leadership of the Hamas movement."

The Israeli army clarified that the targeting included Hamas' negotiating delegation while they were meeting in Doha to discuss the American proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. In another development, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Israel had informed the United States in advance of its intention to launch this attack on Hamas leaders in Doha.
