Radar Systems Hit: Drones Target Kuwait International Airport for the Second Time in Days

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in Kuwait announced early Sunday, March 15, 2026, that Kuwait International Airport was struck by several suicide drones. According to the official statement, the attack directly hit the airport's "radar system," marking a significant tactical escalation aimed at blinding air surveillance and disrupting civil aviation in the country.

Material Damage and Repeated Assaults Kuwaiti authorities confirmed that no human casualties were recorded in the Saturday night attack. However, the recurring nature of these strikes is causing serious security concerns, as the airport was previously targeted on Thursday, resulting in material damage. The DGCA stated it has activated its "maximum emergency plan" in coordination with the Ministry of Defense to mitigate the impact of the strike and ensure the safety of passengers and infrastructure.

The Challenge of Airspace Security The targeting of Kuwait’s primary aviation hub occurs amidst a broader regional wave of drone and missile attacks. Military analysts suggest that striking "radar systems" is a calculated move to create gaps in Kuwait's aerial defense shield. The DGCA reiterated its commitment to taking all necessary measures to maintain the security of civil aviation while coordinating with national security agencies to intercept further threats.
