"Red Lines" Summit: Netanyahu Presses Trump to Broaden Iran Talks as Washington Rejects West Bank Annexation

President Donald Trump hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Wednesday for their seventh meeting since Trump’s return to office. The high-stakes summit centered on U.S.-Iran diplomacy, with Netanyahu presenting "clear principles" that demand any agreement include strict limits on Tehran’s ballistic missile program and its regional proxies. Israel fears that a narrow nuclear deal could leave it vulnerable to Iran’s conventional arsenal, which proved its lethality during the 12-day conflict in June.

While Trump expressed optimism for a "historic deal," he simultaneously signaled military readiness by considering the deployment of a second aircraft carrier to the region. He warned that "very tough measures" await Tehran if negotiations stall. Notably, Trump reaffirmed his opposition to Israel’s annexation of the West Bank, viewing the territory's stability as vital to Israeli security. This stance sets a diplomatic boundary for Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition, which has been pushing for increased control over Palestinian territories.
