The UN Human Rights Council on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, backed a resolution submitted by the GCC states and Jordan, condemning Iran's "heinous" attacks on the Gulf region. The council demanded that Tehran immediately cease all "unjustified attacks" and provide swift compensation to all victims. Envoys from the UAE and Kuwait told the council in Geneva that Iranian actions pose an "existential threat" to global security and violate the principles of state sovereignty.

Warning of War Crimes: UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk described the Middle East situation as "extremely dangerous and unpredictable," asserting that deliberate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure could constitute war crimes. Türk urged influential nations to exert every effort to end the conflict, noting its unprecedented potential to drag multiple countries across borders into the fray.
