Reunifying Syria: President Al-Sharaa Announces Historic Integration Deal with SDF, Reclaiming Oil Fields and National Borders

In a monumental shift for the Syrian conflict, President Ahmed Al-Sharaa announced on Sunday evening a comprehensive agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This landmark deal marks the formal end of autonomous administration in Northern and Eastern Syria, signaling the total reintegration of these territories into the Syrian state’s political and military fabric.

Key Pillars of the "Integration Charter": The agreement mandates an immediate nationwide ceasefire and the withdrawal of SDF formations to the east of the Euphrates. Critically, the deal ensures the immediate transfer of all oil and gas fields, as well as border crossings, to the Syrian government. This move is expected to stabilize the national economy by returning vital resources to central control.

Military and administrative restructuring are at the heart of the pact. SDF personnel will be integrated into the Ministries of Defense and Interior on an individual basis, maintaining their ranks and benefits following security vetting. Furthermore, state institutions will resume full operations in Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Hasakah. In a significant political gesture, a presidential decree will appoint a new Governor for Hasakah from local candidates to ensure regional representation.

The End of the "Grey Zones": A vital security clause transfers the management of all ISIS prisons and displacement camps to the Syrian government. Damascus will now assume full legal and security responsibility for these facilities. By securing this agreement, President Al-Sharaa’s administration takes its most significant step toward ending the 14-year crisis and re-establishing a unified, sovereign Syria.
