Secret Paris Talks Unveiled: Reuters Reveals Israel's Hidden Role in the Damascus-SDF Standoff

A revealing report by Reuters has shed light on a clandestine tripartite meeting in Paris involving Syrian and Israeli officials, brokered by the U.S. According to the report, Damascus urged Israel to stop encouraging Kurdish forces to delay their integration into the Syrian state. Sources claim that Syrian officials even proposed limited military operations to reclaim SDF-held territories, allegedly meeting no Israeli objection at the time.

However, Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yehiel Leiter flatly denied these claims, calling them "false" and asserting that Israel never approved any attack on the Kurds. Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department pointed to Envoy Tom Barrack's recent statement, which explicitly urged the SDF to integrate into the Syrian government, signaling Washington’s lack of interest in a long-term military presence. This diplomatic shift suggests a narrowing window for Kurdish autonomy in the face of a unified regional push for central state control.
