Attack on Bab al-Rahma Cemetery

  • Vandalism: The Jerusalem Governorate reported that a group of settlers destroyed several graves in the Bab al-Rahma Cemetery, which is adjacent to the eastern wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

  • Historical Significance: Bab al-Rahma is one of the oldest and most famous Islamic cemeteries in Jerusalem, dating back 1,400 years and containing the graves of Companions and fighters who participated in the conquest of Jerusalem under Umar ibn al-Khattab and Saladin al-Ayyubi.

  • Israeli Goal: The cemetery is subject to continuous Israeli violations, part of an attempt to change the cultural landscape and pave the way for seizing control of the Old City and its vicinity, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Escalation in the Occupied West Bank

Settler attacks coincided with operations by Israeli forces in several areas:

Area

Nature of Assault / Incursion

Beit Aula (West of Hebron)

Occupation forces assaulted Palestinian farmers, firing stun grenades, injuring and arresting one farmer.

Al-Mazra'a al-Gharbiya (North of Ramallah)

Settlers attacked the town while occupation forces stormed the area, besieged the home of a citizen, and detained his wife and children.

Turmusayya (Northeast of Ramallah)

Occupation forces raided the town and deployed in its streets.

Sinjil (North of Ramallah)

Settlers stormed the outskirts of the town and conducted provocative tours near citizens' homes.

Occupation forces and settlers continue to escalate these attacks as part of a rapid plan to consolidate the occupation of the West Bank.
