On Monday, October 13, 2025, the Red Sea city of Sharm El-Sheikh will host a historic international peace summit jointly chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump. This high-stakes gathering aims to finalize a comprehensive agreement that will end the war in Gaza and lay the foundation for lasting peace in the region.

More than 20 world leaders and officials are set to attend, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Their strong participation underscores the international urgency attached to ending the suffering of Gaza’s population and resolving the region’s protracted conflict.
The French president’s office confirmed Macron’s personal presence to support the US-backed plan, brokered with significant help from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey. The plan’s pillars are a permanent ceasefire, the release of detainees, and guaranteed access for humanitarian aid to Gaza.
However, some parties expressed reservations. A senior Hamas official announced that the movement would not take part in Monday's signing ceremony in Egypt, leaving representation to mediators and American and Israeli officials.
The attending leaders will also discuss next steps, reconstruction efforts, and the importance of a two-state solution for restoring lasting peace and security to the region.
The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit stands as a new beacon of hope for the Middle East, reflecting a collective will to achieve sustainable peace and open a new chapter of cooperation and stability.
