Sharm El-Sheikh Poised for Historic Peace as Sisi Invites Trump to Witness Gaza Agreement

In a remarkable political move, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has officially invited U.S. President Donald Trump to attend the anticipated signing ceremony for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, set to take place in Sharm El-Sheikh. This initiative comes amid growing international hope for an end to the bloody conflict in Gaza, as high-level delegations from the United States, Turkey, and Qatar participate in the ongoing negotiations.

During a speech at a police academy graduation ceremony, Sisi expressed deep appreciation for Trump's influential role in driving the negotiations forward, highlighting American efforts to secure lasting peace. The Egyptian leader noted that Trump dispatched special envoys—Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner—to help accelerate consensus and reach a comprehensive settlement, underscoring Cairo's determined efforts to ensure the success of the Sharm El-Sheikh talks.

Trump's plan, announced on September 29, 2025, forms the basis of the ongoing discussions, especially given its key provisions on prisoner exchange, a comprehensive ceasefire, and the disarmament of the besieged enclave. Israeli sources report that the U.S. administration is exerting significant pressure to resolve outstanding issues, while Hamas is demanding concrete guarantees for the full implementation of the agreement and a verified end to Israeli attacks.

Concurrently, Cairo has begun reviewing lists of Palestinian prisoners to be released and is examining potential mechanisms for Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Political and security circles expect crucial developments in the coming days, which could pave the way for a landmark agreement witnessed by major international figures.

As the world watches, hopes for peace among Palestinians have never been closer to realization should the summit in Sharm El-Sheikh succeed in clinching this vital accord.
