"Shield of the Nation": UAE Air Defenses Intercept Iranian Missiles and Drones; 498 Ballistic Missiles Thwarted Since Conflict Began

The UAE Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday, April 5, 2026, that its air defense systems are currently engaging multiple missile and drone attacks launched from Iran. The ministry confirmed that the loud explosions heard across the country are the result of successful interceptions of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as suicide drones.

Grim Statistics of Aggression:
Since the onset of these "blatant Iranian attacks," the UAE has intercepted a total of 498 ballistic missiles and 2,141 drones. The conflict has claimed the lives of two UAE military personnel and 11 civilians (including a Moroccan contractor and 10 expats of various nationalities). Additionally, 217 people from over 30 different nations have been injured, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the targeting.
