Somalia Issues First Official Response to Trump's 'Insulting' Remarks: We Won't Be Undermined

Somali Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi stated that Somalis will not tolerate being undermined after US President Donald Trump once again directed an insult at them.

Somali Defense Minister's Response:
Rejection of Undermining: In a message to Reuters, Fiqi asserted that the Somali people "will not accept being diminished."
Advice to Trump: Fiqi advised Trump to focus on fulfilling his promises to American voters "instead of concerning himself with Somalia."
Praise for Somalis: The minister rejected Trump's descriptions, praising Somalis for being:
Known worldwide for their "hard work."
Known for their "resilience in the face of adversity," noting that they "overcame all of that and were able to survive."
Gratitude for Aid: He expressed gratitude to the US for its military support in the fight against Al-Qaeda-linked militants in the country.
Trump's Insulting Statements:
During a Pennsylvania rally, Trump denounced immigration from "Third World countries."
Trump described Somalia as a "catastrophic place," adding: "It's filthy, disgusting, and crime-ridden."
He further stated: "The only thing they're good at is chasing ships," referencing piracy off the Somali coast.
Trump plans to permanently halt immigration from "Third World countries" and deport those who "do not provide added value" to the US.
