Strait of Hormuz Deadlock: Revolutionary Guard Claims Full Control Amid U.S. Military Escalation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday its full control over the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic chokepoint vital to the global oil trade. According to the Fars News Agency, senior naval official Mohammad Akbarzadeh claimed that the IRGC’s naval forces now exercise complete authority over the strait. This bold assertion marks a significant escalation in regional tensions, as Tehran moves to leverage its geographic position over one of the world's most critical maritime passages, through which a significant portion of the globe’s crude oil flows.

The announcement comes directly after a stern warning from U.S. President Donald Trump, who stated on Tuesday that the U.S. Navy is fully prepared to escort oil tankers through the strait "if necessary." The looming prospect of U.S. military convoys protecting international shipping directly challenges Iran's claims of dominance. As the IRGC asserts its presence, the international community watches with heightened concern, fearing that any miscalculation in these crowded waters could lead to a direct military confrontation and a devastating disruption of the global economy.
