The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Thursday their official acceptance of the humanitarian truce proposal put forth by the International Quartet (the United States, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt). This move is aimed at addressing the catastrophic humanitarian impact of the war and enhancing civilian protection.

RSF's Goals and Expectations
Humanitarian Objectives: The RSF stated that the acceptance is a response to "the aspirations and interests of the Sudanese people" and seeks to ensure the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid.
Transition to Political Track: The RSF looks forward to the immediate implementation of the agreement and the direct commencement of discussions on cessation of hostilities arrangements and the fundamental principles governing the political track in Sudan.
Ultimate Goal: The goal is to address the root causes of the wars and create an environment for a "just, comprehensive, and lasting peace."
Gratitude to the Quartet: The RSF expressed deep gratitude for the "sincere and intensive efforts" exerted by the Quartet countries, led by the United States.
Context of the Crisis
Escalating Conflict: This announcement comes amidst an unprecedented escalation in the armed conflict that erupted over two years ago between the Army and the RSF.
Army's Stance: While the US continues its attempts to impose a truce, the Sudanese Army remains committed to its stance based on a military decisive resolution.
