"Sumoud" Alliance Condemns Sudanese Army Massacre in Nuba Mountains

The "Sumoud" (Steadfastness) Civil Democratic Alliance for Revolutionary Forces strongly condemned the bombing carried out by a Sudanese Army drone in the Kamo area of South Kordofan (Nuba Mountains).

"Sumoud" Alliance

Stated the bombing led to the "martyrdom of 45 civilians in a horrific crime," describing it as a "flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a direct targeting of innocents." The alliance warned that the continued targeting of civilians reflects the "danger of the current military approach."

Rapid Support Forces (RSF - Party to the Conflict)

Announced on Sunday that 45 people, mostly school students, were killed and others wounded in a drone attack by the Sudanese Army on the Kamo area. The RSF described the attack as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law rules and a war crime requiring accountability, considering the targeting of educational institutions a direct infringement on human rights.

Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N)

Condemned what it called the "massacre" against students in Kamo, asserting that it would not stand idly by and would respond forcefully to the Sudanese Army's violations.


2. Demands by the "Sumoud" Alliance


The "Sumoud" alliance issued several urgent demands to de-escalate the conflict and protect civilians:

  • International Investigation: Launch an independent international investigation and hold all those involved in the crime accountable.

  • Immediate Halt: Immediately cease all aerial attacks.

  • Urgent Relief: Enable urgent relief and aid for the victims.

  • Negotiation Track: Urgently return to a serious negotiation track that prioritizes the protection of civilians and the cessation of war.

  • Call to Civil Forces: The alliance reiterated its call to Sudanese civil forces and the public to reject these crimes and commit to the option of peace and an immediate cessation of hostilities.
