Leading members of the European Parliament are demanding that EU institutions, including Europol and anti-money laundering agencies, take over the investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein network. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence, warned that the scandal raises "grave security questions" that cross national borders. The call for action follows allegations involving former British Business Secretary Peter Mandelson and former French Culture Minister Jack Lang.

MEPs argue that if top-level political and economic decision-makers were influenced through blackmail or illicit financial flows, it constitutes a major threat to European security. Sergey Lagodinsky, Vice-Chair of the Greens, emphasized that organized transnational crime of this scale requires a coordinated European response to complement national investigations. The focus is shifting toward whether authoritarian regimes exploited Epstein’s web to undermine Western democracies from within.
