On Monday, April 6, 2026, a leaked report revealed that Pakistan has delivered a two-stage framework to Washington and Tehran aimed at ending hostilities. The proposal, managed by Pakistan’s Army Chief in talks with U.S. VP JD Vance and Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi, calls for an immediate ceasefire today, followed by a permanent deal within 20 days. The deal would see Iran renounce nuclear weapons in exchange for sanctions relief and the release of frozen assets.

Tehran’s Hesitation:
An Iranian official confirmed to Reuters that they are studying the plan but warned that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened for a mere "temporary truce." Tehran remains skeptical about the U.S. commitment to a lasting peace.
