The Prime Minister of Greenland, the Arctic island territory of Denmark, responded to repeated threats from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding its annexation, stating: "That is enough."

In a Facebook post, Prime Minister Frederik Nielsen (referenced as Múte B. Egede in some contexts) wrote: "No more pressure. No more hints. No more annexation delusions. We are open to dialogue. We are open to discussions. But this must be through the correct channels and in compliance with international law."
Strategic Justification: Earlier, Trump indicated that the United States needs the Danish island of Greenland for reasons related to U.S. national security. "We need Greenland for national security," Trump told reporters, emphasizing that this is a strategic priority for his administration.
Trump alleged that "Russian and Chinese ships are deployed all around Greenland," adding that Denmark is "incapable of enhancing the security" of the territory. Trump avoided answering a question regarding the legal pretext under which the U.S. hopes to take control of Greenland, stating: "I will just say we need Greenland for national security, and the European Union needs it too, and they know that."
The "Soon" Controversy: Adding to the tension, Katie Miller—former consultant and wife of the White House Deputy Chief of Staff—hinted at a potential seizure of the island. Following the U.S. operation in Venezuela on January 4, she posted a map of Greenland on "X" (formerly Twitter) colored with the patterns of the American flag, captioned with the single word: "Soon," without providing further clarification.
