Trump Returns to the UN: "Trumpism" in its Clearest Form

After a six-year absence, U.S. President Donald Trump returned to the United Nations to deliver a speech considered one of the most explicit expressions of his worldview. The address was marked by his direct style, which his supporters see as the embodiment of pure "Trumpism," while his opponents view it as unbalanced.

An Attack on International Institutions and Global Policies

Trump did not hesitate to direct his criticism at his rivals and their principles. He began his speech by praising the United States and his own personal achievements, claiming he had ended seven wars, which, he said, qualified him for a Nobel Peace Prize.

He then moved on to criticize the United Nations, questioning its purpose and describing it as a body that only issues "strongly-worded messages" without achieving tangible results. He also attacked the organization for providing aid to asylum seekers, insisting that its role should be to prevent "invasions," not to fund them.

Trump's critique of the UN reflects his worldview that global crises are best resolved through deals brokered by "powerful men" like himself, rather than through multilateral institutions. This stance was evident in his administration's decision to cut U.S. funding to the organization, which affected its humanitarian activities.

"Europe is in Serious Trouble": Immigration and Energy

Trump's attack was not limited to the UN; he also targeted European allies. He criticized the continent for its policies on immigration and renewable energy, warning that the influx of migrants and "destructive" energy policies would lead to the "demise of Western Europe."

He called climate change the "greatest hoax ever perpetrated against the world," criticizing European nations for imposing high taxes on fossil fuels in favor of green energy.

A Warning to Russia and a "Paper Tiger" Classification

In the most notable part of his speech, Trump issued a warning regarding the Russian war on Ukraine, stating that President Vladimir Putin's refusal to end the conflict "does not portray Russia well." He threatened to impose a "severe round of effective tariffs" to stop the bloodshed but first called on European countries to stop buying Russian energy.

For the first time, Trump categorized Russia as a "paper tiger" rather than a "real military power." This was seen as a blow to Putin, who is highly sensitive to any suggestion that his country is not a global player.
