The Kremlin confirmed on Monday that President Vladimir Putin has been invited by U.S. President Donald Trump to join the newly proposed "Peace Council" for the Gaza Strip. Moscow stated it is currently reviewing the proposal, signaling a potential diplomatic opening between the two powers. This council is designed to oversee a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee led by Ali Shaath, which will manage Gaza’s daily affairs and administrative recovery.

Trump’s invitation list reflects a strategic mix of global rivals and regional partners, including Lula da Silva (Brazil), Javier Milei (Argentina), Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (Turkey), and the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, and Canada. The Council’s primary mission is to secure massive funding and attract global investments to rebuild Gaza after two years of war, effectively placing the reconstruction effort under a direct international mandate presided over by Trump.
