The US Department of the Treasury announced sanctions against an international network, primarily composed of Colombians, accused of recruiting fighters for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan.

Details of Sanctions and Allegations:
Target: The sanctions targeted a network that "recruits former Colombian military personnel and trains operatives, including children, to fight with the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF)," according to a Treasury statement.
Timeline: Washington indicated that hundreds of former Colombian soldiers have participated in fighting in Sudan alongside the RSF since September 2024.
Justification: John Hurley, the US Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, stated that the sanctions are a response because "the RSF has repeatedly demonstrated its willingness to target civilians, including infants and children."
