"Walla" Reports on Efforts to Hold a Summit Between Netanyahu, Al-Sharaa, and Trump

The Israeli news website "Walla" reported on Tuesday an increase in diplomatic efforts to hold a historic summit at the White House next Monday, bringing together Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Syrian President Mohammad Al-Sharaa, and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Details of the Talks and Tensions

According to a source with knowledge of the matter, "the talks have seen a development," adding that "this is no longer just reports or Arab dreams; this is the real thing, and it looks like there will be a trilateral meeting."

This news follows recent statements by the Syrian President, who hinted at the talks with Israel, saying that "security talks with Israel might yield results in the coming days." He emphasized that if the security agreement is successful, it might be possible to reach additional agreements, but he stressed that "peace and normalization are not on the agenda for now."

Al-Sharaa also clarified that the United States is not pressuring Damascus to reach an agreement with Israel, stating that any security agreement must respect "Syrian airspace and territorial integrity."

Israeli Preparations and a History of Tension

Netanyahu held a special discussion on Sunday with senior ministers and heads of security agencies to fully review the outlines of the security agreement with Damascus and the course of the talks. The discussion covered the U.S. and European channels accompanying this move.

Political circles suggest the meeting could take place on the sidelines of the ongoing UN General Assembly, although no clear agreement has been reached yet. If it happens, it would be the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries in decades and would represent a potential breakthrough in efforts to reach a stable agreement regulating their northern border.

However, Al-Sharaa showed reservations about Syria joining the "Abraham Accords," explaining that "Syria is different" because it is a neighbor of Israel and has been subjected to "more than a thousand Israeli raids, attacks, and incursions from the Golan Heights into Syrian territory."
