Zelenskyy's Demands and Diplomatic Moves

US Calls to End the Conflict and Field Situation
NATO Representative's Stance: Conversely, Matthew Whitaker, the US Representative to NATO, announced that during a meeting with Zelenskyy in Kyiv, he had made clear the necessity of ending the conflict in Ukraine.
Statement via X: Whitaker wrote on the social media platform X: "I made clear the necessity of ending this pointless war, and that peace, which President Trump worked to achieve, is the only way."
Trump's Position: These statements follow US President Donald Trump's earlier announcement that the Ukrainian conflict could be settled soon.
Russian Field Advances: This comes as the Russian military made steady advances in Ukraine during October, with its attacks focused on the Donetsk region in the east.
Territory Control: An analysis by Agence France-Presse, based on data from the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW), revealed that Russia gained control over 461 square kilometers in Ukraine during October. This figure is slightly higher than the 447 square kilometers controlled in September and approaches Moscow's monthly average for 2025.
